Considerations for Permit Approval

A contractor who is authorized to work in the Village of Montgomery must complete all construction. Before signing any contracts for work, residents should check with the Village to ensure a contractor is licensed.

Before any of the aforementioned projects may get started, a permit must be secured. Please be aware that before a permit will be issued, any project that involves digging into the ground (such as fences, patios, additions, etc.) will need to detect subterranean utilities.

You can print a Building Permit Application (PDF) and fill it out before sending it to the email address at the top of the form or bringing it to the Building Department for approval. Depending on the project, a building permit can be expensive. Contact the Building Division if you would like more details or to arrange an inspection.

See the Village's certificate management procedures for further details.
